What are essential oils?

Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts that are distilled or cold pressed from a variety of plant material including leaves, roots, flowers, seeds, resins, woods, and fruits.

What are some ways to use essential oils?

In general, essential oils can enjoyed for their distinctive fragrance and aromatic properties when applied to the skin or used with a diffuser. Some essential oils may be added to foods or beverages to enhance flavor and aroma or provide other benefits. Check for each Essence Essential oil’s recommended use.

Which Essence Essential Oils are safe to ingest?

Certain essential oils can be added to foods and beverages to invigorate flavor and aroma among other benefits. Content, TumBliss, Defense Shield, Lavender, Lemon, Frankincense, and Peppermint are safe to ingest.

Add up to one drop of Isagenix Essence Essential Oil to at least 8 fluid ounces of liquid.  Because essential oils are potent even a small amount can provide great flavor and benefits. Try dipping a toothpick into the oil and stirring it into your shake or cleanse drink.

Do not consume Airway™ Blend, Tea Tree Essential Oil, or Eucalyptus Essential Oil.

What is an application oil and why should I use it?

Fractioned coconut oil is the only ingredient in Essence Coconut Application Oil.  Fractionated coconut oil is the most popular oil used for applying essential oils to the skin. It is moisturizing, odor free, and non-greasy.

Application oils are necessary because they help ensure that the essential oil of choice is comfortable on the skin. Pure essential oils are concentrated and can sometimes be irritating for sensitive skin types when applied without dilution. Isagenix application oil does not reduce the effects of the essential oil, but minimizes skin irritation.

What if I experience skin discomfort or irritation?

When applying an oil topically for the first time it’ a good idea to place one drop in an inconspicuous area to see how your skin reacts. To minimize skin sensitivity, mix with a few drops of Isagenix Coconut Application Oil. If skin discomfort or irritation occurs, discontinue use on the affected area. If the reaction persists it is best to consult with a doctor.

Where should Essence essential oils be applied topically?

Diluted essential oils can be applied to most areas of the skin. However, refrain from applying oils to sensitive areas such as near the eyes and ears.

Can essential oils be used during pregnancy or while nursing?

Isagenix does not recommend use of Essence Essential Oils during pregnancy or while nursing. As with any Isagenix Product or System it is always best to consult with your doctor prior to beginning the use of any Essential Oil.

Can children use Essence Essential oils?

Essence Essential Oils can be enjoyed by the entire family through the use of a diffuser in large, well-ventilated spaces. Before applying any essential oil topically, it is best to consult with your child’s pediatrician. Ingesting Essence Essential Oils is only recommended for adults over the age of 18.

What about the use of Essence Essential Oils if I have a medical condition or take prescription medication?

It is always recommended that you consult with your doctor if you have a pre-existing medical condition or take a prescription medication prior to using any Isagenix product, including Essence Essential Oils. Your health care provider can help you determine if there are concerns that may be important for you when using essential oils.

Are Essence Essential Oils safe to diffuse around pets?

Some pets may be especially sensitive to the aroma of essential oils. Diffusing Essence Essential Oils is not recommended in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas for either people or pets. If you have pets and would like to use Essence Essential Oils at home it is best to first consult with your veterinarian to find out what concerns may be important for your pet.

Are there any synthetic ingredients or additives in Essence Essential Oils?

With Essence by Isagenix Essential Oil collection, you can be sure the oils are unadulterated, 100 percent pure, and third-party tested. Essential oils can be adulterated with synthetic compounds and additives, so it’s important to choose oils that come with no-compromise quality.

Do you test your essential oils for heavy metals, pesticides, or purity?

As a new member of the Isagenix product line, Essence Essential Oils come with Isagenix No-Compromise Commitment. Every oil in our Essence line is carefully selected and third-party tested as well as backed by our No-Compromise Commitment to quality.

How Much Sugar Is in the Food We Eat?

Working to reduce the amount of added sugar you consume each day is a worthy goal, especially because many common foods and beverages provide extra sugar and calories but very little of the quality nutrition our bodies need.

On its own, sugar isn’t necessarily good or bad. It becomes a concern when you consume foods that are high in calories and added sugar but low in essential nutrients like protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Many everyday foods, beverages, and condiments contain a surprising amount of added sugar without contributing much nutritional value. Cutting back on these sources of excess sugar is a good idea for both your well-being and your waistline.

But, there is no need to eliminate sugar completely, especially if you want to eat in a way that supports your health and wellness goals. Sugar and other carbohydrates are essential nutrients that play a vital role in many bodily functions, including in the nervous system and immune system. Not to mention that naturally occurring sugar is present in many of the delicious, nourishing foods we should enjoy every day.

Does Sugar Belong in a Healthy Diet?

Short answer: in controlled amounts, yes. When many people think of “sugar,” they often think of added sugar found in processed junk foods and desserts. However, simple sugars and other carbohydrates are naturally found in many nourishing foods that are important to a healthy diet like fruits, vegetables, dairy, legumes, and whole grains.

The table below provides a breakdown of how much sugar is naturally found in nutritious foods.

Dairy and Non-Dairy Beverages Sugar (g) Fruits Sugar (g)
5.3 oz container strawberry flavored nonfat Greek yogurt 16 1 medium apple 19
1 cup nonfat milk 12 1 cup cherries 13
1 cup plain soy milk 6 1 cup grapes 23
1 cup plain almond milk 7 1 mango 46
    1 cup coconut water 9
Grains and Legumes Sugar (g) Vegetables Sugar (g)
2 slices whole-grain bread 6 1 cup sweet potatoes, cubed 6
1 cup red kidney beans, cooked 5 1 bunch of broccoli 10
1 cup chickpeas, cooked 6 1 zucchini 8
1 cup green peas 4 1 large tomato 5
1 small head of cabbage 23

When you combine some of the foods from this list to create a balanced meal as shown in the following recipes, you might be surprised to see how much naturally occurring sugar is part of a healthful diet.

When considered in the context of these healthful and nutritionally balanced recipes, 25 grams of naturally occurring sugar is nothing to be concerned about. It’s part of a nutrient-dense meal that also provides vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber for about 500 calories.

Sugar is a natural part of any balanced meal that’s intended to support a healthy lifestyle, which is why sugar is used purposefully to provide a natural sweetness and a source of carbohydrate in Isagenix products.

Those who use an Isagenix System are likely to reduce their dietary intake of sugars by a considerable amount. Each serving of IsaLean™ Shake provides about 11 grams of sugar, which is substantially less than the sugar you might receive from a healthful, balanced meal. This amount falls well within the American Heart Association’s recommendations for sugar intake as part of a healthy diet.

Limiting added sugar from desserts, beverages, and packaged snacks is good advice to follow, but getting targeted amounts of sugar from healthful, nutritious foods should not be a concern. If you’re aiming to reduce the amount of added sugar you get each day, an Isagenix System has the tools to help you reach your goal.
